Pound Cake

Ingredients

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1-1/2 tsp vanilla

3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1/4 tsp saly

1/4 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)

1 cup milk

Directions

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, creaming thoroughly. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla.

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nuts; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

Spread batter in 2 greased and floured 9X5-inch loaf pans or a bundt pan. Bake in 325°F oven for about 1 hour or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Leave in pan for 10 minutes, then turnout on rack to cool.
